ITINERARY

Your hotel→ Sanju-sangen-do Hall→ Kiyomizu Temple→ San-nen-zaka Slope and Ninen-zaka Slope→ Nishiki Market→ Arashiyama (Katsura River, Togetsukyo Bridge, Tenryuji Temple and bamboo groves) → Golden Pavilion Temple(→Sanjo Bridge and Poto-cho Street)

◆Sanjyusangen-do
The main hall of Sanjusangen-do contains 1,001 wooden statues of Juichimen- Senju- Kannon, "11-faced, thousand -armed Buddhist goddess of mercy". The principal image, the seated statue of Senju Kannon, sits in the center of the collection. These statues exhibit an extraordinary level of craftsmanship from the Kamakura period, representing the essence of Buddhist art.

◆Kiyomizu Temple
This temple predates the foundation of Kyoto and has had millions of pilgrims ever since. It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site with over 30 structures, including a huge wooden veranda in front of the main hall that juts out over the cliff and provides you a panoramic view of Kyoto. There is a famous expression: that states "You must jump off the stage of Kiyomizu." It means that you should take the plunge to make your dreams come true.
been loved by Japanese people.

◆Nishiki Market
If you need a break from temple hopping, Nishiki Market is a great place to visit. Located in the center of the town, Nishikikoji-dori, 400 meters long, is a street lined with around 130 shops selling Kyoto's specialties, such as Kyoto vegetables, dried and pickled foods, fish, and more. That's why it is called "the kitchen of Kyoto". The variety of foods on display is staggering and the frequent cries of Irashaimase (Welcome!) are heart-warming.

◆Tenryuji Temple
Tenryuji Temple, the head quarter of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, is the top-ranked among Kyoto's Five ZenTemples. The shogun Ashikaga Takauji built the temple in 1339 to comfort the spirit of the late Emperor Godaigo who passed away on Mt. Yoshino in Nara prefecture. This temple's garden, designed by the priest Muso Soseki, became the model for all later gardens that incorporate nature as a backdrop for their designs. It features a circular promenade around Sogen Pond, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery of the garden from a variety of vantage points.

◆Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion Temple)
Second only to Mt Fuji as Japan's most famous sight, Hokusan Rokuonji Temple is better known as Kinkakuji Temple, or the Golden Pavilion, because of its
dazzling gold-covered main hall, that seems to float above the surrounding pond. The three-storied pavilion is covered in gold leaf on the second and third floors and features a bronze phoenix with a gilt impression on top of the roof. The mirror-like reflection of the temple in the pond is extremely photogenic, especially when the maple trees are ablaze in autumn. Their temple is an impressive feat. It is one of the historic monuments of ancient Kyoto, designated as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site.
