WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
In this experience, you will create a Japanese Uchiwa fan or lantern based on the designs of the floats of the Nebuta Festivals.
Nebuta Festivals have been held in northeastern Japan for over 300 years. They are some of the most celebrated festivals in Japan with their elaborately styled floats attracting thousands of visitors every year.
As part of this experience, you will take inspiration from these famous floats to make your own souvenir. Under the guidance of a genuine Nebuta float artist, you will use the patterns and fabrics of past Nebuta floats to create your own design for your lantern or fan.
