・The Tokyo National Museum

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

This section introduces Ueno Park, which was created after Kan-eiji Temple, one of the largest temples in Tokyo during the Edo period, was dismantled during the Meiji Restoration. Ueno Park is lined with famous buildings such as the National Museum of Western Art and the Ueno Cultural Hall, both of which are World Heritage sites.

This tour will introduce the charm of Ueno Park, where Japanese history and contemporary art coexist.

The tour will begin with a stroll through Ueno Park, introducing important historical sites such as Kan-eiji Temple and Ueno Toshogu Shrine, which were under the protection of the Edo Shogunate, who ruled Japan from the 17th century onward. At the same time, the National Museum of Western Art, a World Heritage Site, will be introduced to show the charm of Ueno Park, where Japanese history and contemporary art are fused together.

The Tokyo National Museum houses approximately 120,000 works of art and archaeological artifacts from Japan and other Asian countries. Visitors can see many exhibits (89 national treasures) that show Japanese history from the Jomon period to modern times. It is the best place to understand Japan.
