The Imperial Palace and Nihonbashi Tour

We will visit the former Edo Castle, which was the political center of Japan until the mid-19th century, and Nihonbashi, the commercial district of the city.
In Nihonbashi, we will visit old stores and experience good old Tokyo as well as product-making establishment. This tour also includes a visit to the government and commercial district of 17th century Japan (Edo).

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The walking tour starts from Tokyo Station, the starting point of Japan's rail network, to the Imperial Palace, where the Emperor and Empress reside, and see Modern Tokyo, with modern buildings visible on both sides.

We will then walk through Otemon Gate into the East Gardens, which was the political center of the city from the early 17th to the 19th century. There, we will visit the Banya (guard house), the ruins of the Honmaru (main citadel), and other sites. We will then take the subway to Nihonbashi Station.

In front of the mural, Kiyo-dai-shoran, located in the subway station Nihonbashi, you will feel as if you were transported back in time to 17th century Nihonbashi.
The tour will visit Nihonbashi as a commercial district that continues to this day, and will include visits to the following stores:
Learn about dashi (Japanese soup stock) and experience making dashi soup at Nibende.
Observe the process of making yaki-nori at Yamamoto Nori.
At Kiya, observe the sharpening of knives.
At Kozu Washi, visitors will see washi art and beautiful washi crafts. If there is vacancy, you can even try to make washi yourself.

Visit Nihonbashi Toyama-kan, where you will be introduced to a restaurant and sake tasting experience.
