WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
In the first half of this tour you will visit Asakusa, the long-standing entertainment district of Tokyo.
Asakusa's most famous sight and the first stop on our tour, is Senso-ji, Tokyo's oldest and most-visited temple. With our expert guide, you will walk Senso-ji's famous Nakamise shopping street and bustling grounds, and hear all about its unique past. As you walk you will see all of Sensoji's fascinating spots, including the five-story pagoda, the main hall, and the immense Kaminarimon Gate with its giant swinging lantern and guardian statues.
After a detailed walk around Senso-ji, you will venture on to more of Asakusa's historical sights, such as Denboin Temple with its beautiful Edo-period garden (only available March through May); Asakusa Culture & Tourism Center with its fantastic views of Tokyo Skytree from its observation deck; Marugoto Nippon shopping center; and more!
Asakusa is a great place to buy specialist souvenirs like regional variants of senbei rice crackers or finely crafted boxwood combs, and time provided, our tour guide will also be more than happy to take you to their favorite shopping spots.
Then, once you have filled your boots (and bags) with Asakusa culture, we will take you for a traditional Japanese lunch in one of best-loved restaurants.
Odaiba by Water Bus
After lunch, you will be whisked off on another adventure, this time by sea! As part of the tour, you will take a water bus from ancient Asakusa all the way to modern Odaiba bay. The water buses are well-known in Japan for their panoramic views, and as you travel you will see even more great sights of Tokyo like the Rainbow Bridge, Edo-Tokyo Museum and Hamarikyu Gardens.
Once in Odaiba there's plenty to explore. Home to some of Tokyo's boldest architectural creations, you can see it all, from futurstic buildings like Fuji TV Building and and Telecom Center, to giant Gundam robot statues, to the retro-looking Oedo Onsen theme park.
The bulk of the tour will focus on the eccentric area of Palette Town. Here you can find the likes of Venus Fort, a shopping center designed in the style of a 18th-century South European town, as well as famous art museum teamLab Borderless, and the Toyota Mega Web, where you can test drive and try out all the latest Toyota vehicles and products.
Finally, to finish your tour on a high, you will ride thr Odaiba Ferris Wheel, one of the tallest in the world, and the best way to view Tokyo from above.
