WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Tsukiji Market Tour
In the first half of the program, your guide will show you around the many delights of Tsukiji Market. Once the largest fish market in the world, most of the famous inner market moved to another location in 2018. Nonetheless, the outer market is still a must-see for fish-lovers, and there is still a lot to see and learn about this quirky 80-year-old market.

With your guide, you will explore its many narrow streets, shops and restaurants, visiting the likes of fish shops, street food vendors, specialist knives shops, and more. Weather depending, you may even get a chance to see Namiyoke Inari Shrine, where the guardian deity of Tsukiji is enshrined.

If that weren't enough, you will pick the ingredients you use in your sushi workshop while exploring Tsukiji, so you just know they will be fresh!

Sushi-making Workshop
After your Tsukiji tour, your tour guide will take you back to our state-of-the-art Grand TJT facility to take part in a sushi-making lesson.

As part of this lesson, our nationally-accredited sushi instructor will explain to you about the history and etiquette of sushi. You will also learn to make two of Japan's most traditional forms of sushi:

Nigiri Sushi - The most traditional form of sushi. Hand-molded rice capped with a seafood, meat or vegetable topping.
Gunkan Maki - Also known as "boat-shaped sushi." This type of sushi is wrapped in nori seaweed and is usually topped with softer ingredients such as cod roe or imitation crab.

Guests are also welcome to take part in a sake and/or tea tasting sessions.  For more information, see below.
